Our Story
The Mullins-Marion FreeWill Baptist Church was conceived of God and came into being by the leadership of the Holy Spirit as Preacher Bill Jacobs, his wife, Arliss, two sons, Tony and Timothy and their daughter Tregeana, who was not yet born, moved to Mullins, South Carolina September 28, 1968. The church was originally called the Mullins Original FreeWill Baptist Church and was located in an old washerette building in Mullins, South Carolina where Carolina Bank presently stands. The land for the new church was given by John F. Brown, Sr., to the glory of God for the site of the church. The land is located in front of Marion-Mullins Broadcasting Company, WJAY, which is halfway between Mullins and Marion. When the first church was built and the congregation moved from the washerette into the first sanctuary Sunday November 21, 1971, the name was changed from Mullins Original Free Will Baptist Church to Mullins-Marion FreeWill Baptist Church.

Under the leadership and anointing of the Holy Spirit, the faithfulness of the members and a Preacher, with his family, who believed that God could and would build Himself a church if we allowed His will to be done. Over the years we've seen the church grow. We've seen many precious souls come to the saving knowledge of our great God and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Remembering where He said, "Without Me, ye can do nothing." To God be the glory, great things He hath done. He is doing and will continue to do as we stand faithful and earnestly contend for the faith that was once laid down for the saints.

In September, 1975, Brother Neil and Sister Billie Hinson joined our staff. Brother Neil became the principal of the Mullins-Marion Christian School. This was the beginning of a school which has been in operation for 39 years. We thank God for those that have been so faithful in this Christian School endeavor.

In October of 1995, God began to bring into reality the vision of a new church facility for Mullins-Marion FreeWill Baptist Church which is located across the road facing the original sanctuary. May it ever be used for the saving of lost souls, the discipline of the saints which will bring glory and honor to our God. Hallelujah!!

On April 13, 2003, the Lord transferred our founding pastor, Preacher Bill Jacobs home to Heaven. In June 2003, Brother Neil Hinson became pastor of Mullins-Marion FreeWill Baptist Church. Brother Neil announced in December 2011 his desire to retire as pastor of the church and a search for a replacement pastor began. Our search lead to Pastor Craig Villines and family. In July 2011 Pastor Craig, his wife, and two children accepted the position. In August 2012, Pastor Craig resigned and he and his family returned to Arkansas. As new Pastor, Rev. Billy Bevan, Jr. preached his first sermon on August 7, 2013 to the church family. Pastor Bevan resigned on September 2, 2015.  Our church is currently in search of a pastor.  We are praying that God's will be done and He will send the man He wants to lead this flock.

The Mullins-Marion FreeWill Baptist Church is "A Church With A Heart" reaching out to the hearts of the citizens of our community and surrounding areas. The congregation extends to you a warm welcome to worship with us!
